Unseen Malayalam Film Shatters Records, Crosses ₹100 Crore in Kerala

The Malayalam film industry continues to impress with new talent, as evidenced by the success of the coming-of-age drama “Vaazha 2: Biopic of a Billion Bros.” Directed by Savin SA, this film has captured audiences in Kerala and beyond, marking a significant achievement for newcomers in the industry.

In just 16 days since its release, “Vaazha 2” has surpassed the ₹100 crore mark at the Kerala box office. Its impressive opening week was bolstered by strong reviews and enthusiastic word-of-mouth, particularly among younger viewers. The film earned ₹55 crore in its first week and added another ₹2.50 crore on its 17th day, bringing its total to ₹101.85 crore according to updates from Sacnilk.

Notably, “Vaazha 2” also crossed ₹100 crore globally within a week of its debut and is now on the verge of joining the ₹200 crore club. Writer Vipin Das expressed gratitude to fans on Instagram, highlighting the film’s record-breaking performance in Kerala and underscoring its significance to the audience.

This film has set a new precedent as the fastest Malayalam film to reach the ₹100 crore milestone in Kerala, surpassing previous records held by “Lokah Chapter 1 Chandra” and “Thudarum.” The achievement is a testament to the film’s resonance with the public and the effectiveness of its promotional efforts.

The storyline of “Vaazha 2” centers around four friends—Hashir, Alan, Ajin, and Vinayak—who struggle with societal pressures and academic challenges while facing family expectations. The film explores their journey from youth to adulthood, emphasizing the importance of male friendships in personal growth. It features debut performances from newcomers Hashir H., Alan Bin Siraj, Ajin Joy, and Vinayak V., along with supporting roles from established actors like Vijay Babu and Aju Varghese.

Following the triumph of “Vaazha 2,” the production team has announced plans for “Vaazha 3.” This upcoming installment is set to feature an all-women lead cast, signifying an exciting evolution of the franchise. Vipin Das shared his vision for the series, which aims to continually introduce fresh talent while maintaining a commitment to innovation in storytelling and filmmaking.
