Medha Shankr Shares Feelings of Exclusion from Designer Events

Medha Shankr, who rose to prominence with her performance in Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s “12th Fail,” is currently gearing up for her next project, the romantic comedy “Ginny Wedss Sunny 2.” This upcoming film features Avinash Tiwary as her co-star and is set to contribute to her growing portfolio in the film industry.

In a recent promotional event, Shankr reflected on her experiences in the industry, particularly regarding feelings of exclusion. While she did not report any humiliating moments on film sets, she acknowledged instances of feeling marginalized in professional environments, including at events and during interactions with designers.

During an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Shankr elaborated on subtle forms of professional exclusion she has encountered. She cited scenarios at stylist events where unspoken dynamics can create feelings of discomfort. Although she does not harbor personal grudges, she noted that such situations often raise questions about the implicit rules that govern the industry.

Shankr shared her thoughts on the implications of specific designer choices, stating, “At events, with designers, you know small things like ‘this designer will not give his outfit to you,’ we all hear that. Of course, it doesn’t matter to me, but I do remember your names… You do feel, ‘What just happened here?’ So definitely, there I have felt a little absurd.” This reflection highlights the nuances of navigating professional relationships and social expectations within the film world.

Avinash Tiwary, responding to Shankr’s comments, provided a broader view on power dynamics in the entertainment industry. He emphasized that those in influential roles often desire to dictate how situations unfold. However, he expressed admiration for individuals who resist such pressures and maintain their integrity.

Tiwary elaborated on the evolving landscape of respect and influence, noting that while the past favored individuals resistant to being swayed by power plays, this perspective has gradually changed. He underscored the importance of integrity, asserting that it should remain uncompromised, regardless of wealth or influence. “Whatever games are being played, we are not here because of anyone’s favour. She is also not here because of anyone’s favour. Everyone is here because of their own talent, so there is no need to fear or overthink so much,” he remarked, reinforcing the significance of personal merit in their careers.

“Ginny Wedss Sunny 2” is scheduled for release on April 24, featuring a diverse ensemble that includes Lillete Dubey, Sudhir Pandey, Govind Namdev, Gopi Bhalla, Nayani Dixit, Vishwanath Chatterjee, and Rohit Chaudhary. The film is supported by Zee Studios and Soundrya Production, with production led by Vinod Bachchan and Umesh Kumar Bansal, promising an engaging addition to the romantic comedy genre.
