Akshay Kumar’s latest film, “Bhooth Bangla,” marks another collaboration with director Priyadarshan, generating considerable buzz among fans looking forward to the duo’s comedic reunion. Although the film garnered mixed reviews, it has demonstrated promising box office growth, reflecting a positive response from audiences.
On its second day, “Bhooth Bangla” reportedly earned ₹19 crore, following a first-day collection of ₹12.25 crore. The upward trend has been attributed to favorable word of mouth, with the film also raking in ₹3.75 crore from paid previews on Thursday. The total gross collections in India now stand at ₹42 crore, with a net total of ₹35 crore to date.
Directed by Priyadarshan, “Bhooth Bangla” reunites him with Akshay after several successful films, including “Hera Pheri” and “Bhool Bhulaiyaa.” The cast includes notable actors such as Wamiqa Gabbi, Tabu, Mithila Palkar, Rajpal Yadav, and Jisshu Sengupta. The plot centers around Arjun, played by Akshay, and his sister, played by Mithila, who unexpectedly inherits a palace from their grandfather. Arjun’s journey to prepare the palace for his sister’s wedding takes a comedic turn as local legends warn of a mischievous spirit that prevents marriages in the village.
Mithila Palkar shared her excitement about landing the role of Akshay’s sister, thanks to a recommendation from Kalyani Priyadarshan. In an Instagram post, she expressed her gratitude to both Kalyani and director Priyadarshan for the opportunity, emphasizing the significance of being part of such a creative project. Her enthusiasm resonates with the audience, as she highlights the support and love received for the film’s trailer.
“Bhooth Bangla” is produced by Balaji Motion Pictures in collaboration with Cape of Good Films, with Akshay Kumar joining forces with Shobha Kapoor and Ektaa R Kapoor in the production. As the film continues to attract viewers, its success showcases the enduring appeal of horror comedies in Indian cinema.
