Akshay Kumar Addresses Hera Pheri 3 Status: ‘It’s Not Happening Soon’

Fans of the beloved comedy franchise Hera Pheri have been eagerly anticipating the release of Hera Pheri 3. The film promises to bring back the iconic trio of Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal, and Suniel Shetty. However, the production has faced significant hurdles, including a recent legal conflict over copyright ownership, which has delayed the project.

In a recent conversation with Subhankar Mishra on his YouTube channel, Akshay Kumar provided updates regarding the film’s status. Unfortunately, he confirmed that Hera Pheri 3 is currently not in development. This news came as a disappointment, particularly to Kumar, who expressed his own surprise at the situation.

Kumar explained that multiple factors are contributing to the film’s stagnation. He stated, “Hera Pheri 3 abhi filhaal toh nahi ban rahi,” indicating that it is not happening for now. When Mishra reacted in shock to this revelation, Kumar noted, “Mujhe khud jhatka laga tha.” He reassured fans that while the three main actors are not the issue—they are currently collaborating on another project entitled Welcome to the Jungle—there are other unresolved matters that are holding up production.

He further remarked, “Apne aap ayega, jab waqt aayega tab ban jaayega,” suggesting that the film will materialize in its own time, as long as they remain hopeful for the future. Kumar humorously added a personal touch, wishing they wouldn’t be too old by the time filming resumes.

The Hera Pheri franchise began with the initial film directed by Priyadarshan, released in 2000. It introduced audiences to the unforgettable characters of Baburao Ganpatrao Apte, played by Paresh Rawal, alongside Akshay Kumar as Raju and Suniel Shetty as Shyam. The original film quickly gained a substantial following due to its witty dialogue and exceptional comic timing. The trio returned for a sequel, Phir Hera Pheri, in 2006, which continued to build on the franchise’s popularity.

As fans await further developments on Hera Pheri 3, Kumar’s insights highlight the complexities involved in reviving a cherished film series. For now, the hope remains that this beloved story will eventually return to the big screen.
