Mitchell Starc Receives Green Light from Cricket Australia for IPL

Pace bowler Mitchell Starc has received the green light to participate in the Indian Premier League (IPL) after missing the initial phase of the season due to fitness issues. Cricket Australia announced this development on Thursday.

Starc, a left-arm quick, has been recovering from injuries to his elbow and shoulder. He is now set to join his team, the Delhi Capitals, for the remainder of the tournament. While the exact date of his arrival is not disclosed, he is expected to make his debut for Delhi in their upcoming match against the Rajasthan Royals on May 1.

If all goes as planned, Starc will be available for the Capitals’ remaining regular-season matches, leading up to the final on May 31, provided that the team progresses that far. Currently, Delhi is positioned fifth in the 10-team standings.

In addition to Starc, other Australian players such as Pat Cummins, who is with the Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Josh Hazlewood of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, also missed the beginning of the IPL season due to injury recovery and workload management. Hazlewood has already made a comeback for Bengaluru, while Cummins is anticipated to return to action this weekend to lead Hyderabad.
