Airbus Selects Mahindra Aerostructures to Produce H130 Helicopter Fuselage in India

Mahindra Aerostructures Pvt. Ltd. (MASPL), a subsidiary of the Mahindra Group, has secured a significant contract from Airbus Helicopters.

This agreement allows Mahindra to manufacture and assemble the main fuselage for the H130 light single-engine helicopter, solidifying its reputation as a reliable player in the international aerospace supply chain, as stated by the company.

New H130 Agreement with Airbus

As part of this collaboration, Mahindra will create the main fuselage assembly of the H130, which will subsequently be transported to Airbus Helicopters’ European facilities.

According to MASPL, the initial cabin assembly is anticipated to be delivered by March 2027.

Dr. Anish Shah, the Group CEO and Managing Director of Mahindra Group, expressed that Airbus, as a global leader, has played a pivotal role in developing India’s aerospace sector and enhancing its reputation globally.

“We are honored to expand our well-established partnership with Airbus, leverage our manufacturing excellence, and embark on this exciting new venture,” he remarked.

Rémi Maillard, President and Managing Director of Airbus in India and South Asia, emphasized that Airbus is committed to a strategic vision for India, aiming to foster a comprehensive aerospace ecosystem that encompasses assembly, manufacturing, engineering, innovation, digital solutions, and training.

“The contract for the H130 fuselage manufacturing reflects Airbus’ confidence in the advancing industrial capabilities of the Indian supply chain, known for its blend of skills and competitiveness,” Maillard noted.

Mahindra has been supplying a range of components and sub-assemblies for Airbus’ commercial aircraft programs for some time now.

In addition to being a significant market, India serves as an essential resource hub for Airbus, with the company’s annual procurement of components and services from India currently estimated at $1.4 billion.

The H130 helicopter is designed as an intermediate, single-engine aircraft suitable for various applications, including passenger transport, tourism, private and business aviation, medical airlift, and surveillance operations.
