Dubai: Individual Sentenced to Three Months in Prison and Deportation for Drug Possession and Usage

A 38-year-old man of Asian descent has been sentenced to three months in prison after being discovered with 89 grams of heroin, which he intended to use personally. The Dubai Criminal Court has also mandated the confiscation of the narcotics and his deportation upon the completion of his sentence.

The investigation commenced when authorities received a report suggesting that the individual was both using and storing illegal substances at his home in Al Satwa. Responding to this information, officers from the General Department of Anti-Narcotics conducted a raid at the location, resulting in his arrest and the unearthing of three packets of heroin.

Forensic examination confirmed that the seized items comprised six foil-wrapped packets, totaling 89 grams of heroin, along with additional narcotic substances.

A drug screening conducted on the suspect indicated the presence of narcotics in his system.

During questioning, he confessed to acquiring the heroin for personal consumption, stating that he had ordered the drugs from another Asian man through WhatsApp. The dealer provided specific location details for the pickups, while transactions were executed via bank transfers.

The Dubai Court of Appeals later affirmed the original decision, upholding the prison sentence, the order for drug confiscation, and the deportation instruction.
