Meta’s popular messaging platform, WhatsApp, faced technical problems affecting numerous users in the UAE on Saturday evening, as indicated by outage monitoring service Downdetector. The service recorded 482 reported issues by 7 PM local time.
Users experienced difficulties with essential features, such as sending messages and updating their statuses. One user mentioned to a local news outlet that while she could send direct messages, her attempts to text group chats were unsuccessful.
In addition, WhatsApp also encountered problems in India on the same day, with numerous users unable to send messages or update their statuses. Downdetector noted approximately 1,743 outage reports from India by 8:30 PM (IST).
As of now, WhatsApp has not released any official comment regarding the outages.
Previously, on February 28, several residents in the UAE had encountered similar issues with WhatsApp, prompting them to report their experiences on the outage tracking website.
