The ruler of Sharjah has sanctioned a new comprehensive salary structure for public sector positions within the Sharjah government. This new framework introduces two additional job categories, identified as ‘Special A’ and ‘Special B,’ while also establishing a uniform four-year tenure requirement for each job level throughout all employment tiers.
This updated salary scale is anticipated to enhance job stability and create transparent opportunities for career growth for Emirati citizens employed in the public sector.
Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi has also endorsed a modified salary scale specifically designed for Emirati engineers in the government sector. This includes the addition of a brand-new ‘Special’ grade and revisions to existing job titles. For engineering roles, the salary scale mandates a four-year commitment in each job level.
Abdullah Ibrahim Al Zaabi, the head of the Human Resources Department in Sharjah, commented, “We are set to initiate the implementation of the directives from the Ruler of Sharjah concerning salary scales for public sector positions and professional engineers, following coordination with the relevant departments. We encourage employees of the Sharjah government to increase their commitment and diligence in light of these new directives.”
He indicated that the establishment of these new grades is designed to motivate Sharjah government employees to improve their performance. In the past, once an employee reached the first grade, they had to wait several years for promotions. The introduction of the new special grades following the first allows industrious government workers to progress more rapidly in their careers.
