A flydubai flight traveling from Dubai to Kathmandu was redirected to Lucknow airport.
While initial Indian media reports indicated a low-fuel situation as the reason for the diversion, the airline later clarified that the change was due to poor weather conditions in Kathmandu.
A representative for flydubai informed Khaleej Times: “On April 15, flight FZ 1133 from Dubai International (DXB) to Kathmandu International Airport (KTM) was rerouted to Lucknow International Airport (LKO) due to unfavorable weather in Kathmandu. Passengers received refreshments and resumed their journey to Kathmandu at 10:15 local time.”
The airline expressed regret for the disruption to passenger schedules: “We apologize for any inconvenience our passengers may have experienced.”
This diversion occurred alongside a general weather advisory for Nepal. The Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD) has forecast overcast skies, thunderstorms, and moderate rainfall in hilly areas, especially within Koshi Province. There is also a possibility of light snowfall in higher elevations.
Officials have warned the public to take necessary precautions due to potential disruptions in daily activities, including road transport and flight operations.
