A significant new coastal undertaking, titled “Downtown Umm Al Quwain,” was officially announced on Friday. This ambitious initiative spans 25 million square feet and aims to transform the urban and economic framework of the emirate.
The project features an uninterrupted coastline extending 11km, which includes 7km of natural beaches and parks. It is designed as a mixed-use area and comprises three main sections: North Beach, Trade Centre, and South Beach. These sections will incorporate residential neighborhoods, commercial establishments, office spaces, hotels, and leisure facilities.
Among its key elements is the Trade Centre, a 15 million square foot free zone governed by its own legal structure. Authorities in Umm Al Quwain assert that it will emerge as a prime global hub for commerce, cultural exchange, and investment prospects.
The announcement occurred during an official event led by Sheikh Rashid bin Saud bin Rashid Al Mualla, the Crown Prince of Umm Al Quwain, who is also the Chairman of the Executive Council. In his remarks, he emphasized the importance of large investment ventures in bolstering the emirate’s economy and attracting new business prospects.
The groundwork for “Downtown Umm Al Quwain” is being laid in collaboration with Sobha Realty, with the first phase set to incorporate residential units, office spaces, and hospitality services. Upon completion, the project is expected to accommodate over 150,000 residents.
Approximately half of the site will be allocated to green zones, pathways, and parks, with infrastructure that promotes environmental sustainability.
The Government of Umm Al Quwain has characterized this initiative as a strategic move toward establishing Umm Al Quwain as a competitive and appealing destination for investors, residents, and tourists alike.
