The latest data released by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) revealed that there have been 884 confirmed cases of measles in the country since the beginning of this year, marking a significant increase compared to the previous year.
As of 2025, 11 outbreaks of measles have been reported nationwide.
The CDC defines an outbreak as the occurrence of three or more associated cases of the disease.
Thirty states and American territories have reported confirmed cases, with 94 hospitalizations and three fatalities linked to the disease.
This year’s measles case count shows a notable rise compared to 2024, when only 285 cases were recorded.
The CDC emphasized that the most effective way to prevent the disease is through two doses of the MMR vaccine (measles, mumps, and rubella).
