Innovative workshops and engaging discussion sessions are being organized by Dubai Culture and Arts Authority as part of their initiative “Schools of Life,” which aims to enhance the quality of life in Dubai for all community members.
The initiative will feature a total of 38 interactive workshops and sessions that cover various topics. Participants visiting Dubai’s public libraries, the Union Museum, Dhakher Club, and Al Shindagha Museum, the largest heritage museum in the UAE, will have the opportunity to develop their life skills and creativity across multiple fields. This initiative also aims to celebrate community values and traditions, enjoy folk tales, and preserve the national identity for future generations.
In May 2025, “Schools of Life” will showcase creative and educational pathways, along with innovative clubs, in celebration of “Community Year” and the “Dubai Heritage” initiative. This effort is focused on reviving Dubai’s historical memory by collecting and preserving life stories and experiences that reflect the city’s evolution and its people’s lives over generations.
As part of this framework, the Union Museum will host a TEDx conference entitled “Emirati Identity” aimed at encouraging youth to actively contribute to shaping the Emirati identity. This will involve integrating core Emirati values into education, art, and media, alongside exploring the role of the Arabic language in preserving heritage and linking local traditions to innovative and sustainable projects.
Children visiting Umm Suqeim Library will participate in a workshop titled “Young Reporter: Community Values,” learning the basics of journalism, storytelling, and report writing while enhancing their critical thinking skills.
Additionally, the “Puppet Show: Reviving Emirati Folk Tales” at Al Rashidiya Library will provide attendees a chance to delve into local folk narratives. Dhakher Club will host the “Generational Dialogue: Youth Conversations.”
Within the “Art Club” activities, visitors at Al Safa Art and Design Library can look forward to a session called “Features of Memory: A Collage Journey.” Furthermore, Hatta Public Library will welcome artist Majdi Kafrawi for an interactive workshop exploring the impact of black and white.
Al Safa Art and Design Library will open its doors to book lovers and “Novel Club” members to discuss the novel “Diving” by author Reem Basyuni. Hatta Public Library will also host a session on “Making Jam” as part of the “Health and Nutrition Club” activities, in addition to a variety of other essential and diverse events.
