A recent study conducted in the United States has revealed that gold injections into the eye may effectively treat age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and other eye conditions.
### Mechanism of Treatment
This innovative therapy involves the incorporation of extremely small gold nanoparticles, which are thousands of times thinner than a human hair, into antibodies targeting specific cells within the eye. These nanoparticles are then injected into the vitreous chamber filled with gel between the retina and the lens.
### Activation Process
Following the injection, a small infrared laser device is utilized to stimulate these nanoparticles, thereby activating the targeted cells in a manner similar to how light-sensitive cells function.
### Experimental Results
According to a report published by Sky News Arabic, experiments conducted on mice—whose eye health was modified to induce retinal disorders—showed that this treatment was effective in restoring at least some vision.
