The Norwegian psychological thriller “Peter Man” has been awarded the title of Best Long Series at the Cannes Series Festival, while the Belgian show “Oh, Otto!” took home the prize in the Short Series category.
“Peter Man” follows the story of Tom, a Norwegian man with misogynistic tendencies, who harasses women online at night under the cover of anonymity. When a group of hackers uncovers his identity, he goes into hiding by disguising himself as a woman.
The award for acting went to Anders Baasmo, the lead actor in “Peter Man,” which also received recognition from high school students.
Another Norwegian production, “Nibobibi,” which blends family drama with comedy, won the award for best screenplay and a special performance award for its entire cast.
The jury for this eighth edition of the festival was led by American composer Jeff Russo, stepping in for actor Norman Reedus, who was originally scheduled to chair the panel. Notably, the jury included French actress Louise Bourgoin and Spanish actress Lola Dueñas.
Norway also excelled in the documentary series competition, winning with “The Agent: The Life and Lies of My Father,” a film about a father who revealed to his ten-year-old son that he is a secret agent.
In the short series category, the jury, chaired by Dutch actress and screenwriter Marni Block, voted in favor of “Oh, Otto!”
