The Chinese manned spacecraft “Shenzhou-19” successfully detached from the Chinese space station today, Wednesday, and the astronauts onboard—Tsai Hsiao-chieh, Song Lingdong, and Wang Haoze—have commenced their journey back to Earth, as reported by the China Manned Space Agency.
According to the People’s Daily Online, the spacecraft is expected to land at the Dongfeng landing site, located in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region in northern China, later today.
Before the separation, the crew of “Shenzhou-19,” with assistance from ground control, completed a variety of tasks. These included assessing the status of the space station, processing and transferring experimental data, and delivering remaining supplies.
Additionally, the crew conducted handover operations with the “Shenzhou-20” team and exchanged operational experiences from their time in orbit.
The agency noted that the return of “Shenzhou-19,” initially scheduled for yesterday, Tuesday, was postponed due to adverse weather conditions at the landing site.
