Dubai Design District: A Contract of Creativity

Dubai Design District, part of the Tecom Group, recently celebrated over ten years since its establishment, solidifying its reputation as a premier global destination for design, fashion, and creativity.

To mark this milestone, the district organized a special event featuring leading industry figures under the theme “Over a Decade of Design,” reflecting on its journey in promoting knowledge-driven economic growth and enhancing Dubai’s position as an international hub for creativity.

Currently, Dubai Design District hosts more than 1,100 local and international companies, employing over 20,000 creative professionals. It is set to launch an expansion project that will provide over 500,000 square feet of business space in response to increasing demand.

This project, valued at 825 million dirhams, is expected to be completed by the first half of 2028. Additionally, the district announced the introduction of the “Dubai Design District Award” to honor creative talents in the region, with the first winner to be revealed during Dubai Design Week in November.

As part of its ten-year anniversary celebrations, the district is also planning to publish a book that will showcase the work of leading designers based in Dubai.

Khadija Al Bastaki, the Senior Vice President of Tecom Group – Dubai Design District, emphasized that the district has played a crucial role in fostering creativity and innovation in Dubai, aligning with the goals of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33 and the Dubai Creative Economy Strategy.

Today, Dubai Design District serves as a central hub for major global events such as Dubai Fashion Week and Dubai Design Week, and it houses the in5 Design business incubator, which has supported over 120 startups since its inception.
