Emirates Airline celebrated its pilots and the global aviation community on International Pilots Day, reaffirming its commitment to recruit over 1,500 new pilots in the next two years. The airline is building upon the success of its accelerated command program, which expedites the promotion of first officers to captains, with more than 80 pilots currently nearing their upgrade.
The airline’s pilots operate a fleet of 261 of the latest wide-body aircraft in the world, including the Airbus A380 and Boeing 777, alongside its newest addition, the Airbus A350. These aircraft serve over 148 destinations across six continents.
In line with its ambitious growth strategy, Emirates is focused on recruiting experienced pilots through one of its four programs: direct hiring for captains, the accelerated command program, type-rated first officers, and non-type-rated first officers. The new recruits will join a community of over 4,600 pilots.
Additionally, Emirates Airline has signed four new memoranda of understanding at the Arabian Travel Market with the Ministry of Tourism and Handicrafts of Madagascar, the multi-sector Sun Group based in Vietnam, the Greek National Tourism Organization, and the Fjord Norway tourist board. These agreements aim to enhance tourism flows from key markets through Emirates’ extensive global network.
Emirates will promote Madagascar in its main markets through joint advertising campaigns and will activate its network of tour operators and travel agents to boost inbound tourism. Furthermore, Emirates and the Ministry of Tourism and Handicrafts will organize joint familiarization trips to Madagascar to showcase its tourism offerings to major global markets, in addition to facilitating business and trade opportunities through the airline’s cargo capabilities.
The airline also entered into a memorandum of understanding with the Sun Group to strengthen inbound tourism to Vietnam and increase traveler numbers through collaborative efforts.
Emirates renewed its memorandum of understanding with the Greek National Tourism Organization, reaffirming its long-term commitment to promoting Greece as a leading year-round tourist destination through its global network. Additionally, the airline will work with the Fjord Norway tourist board to enhance inbound tourism to Western Norway.
