Thani Al Zeyoudi: UAE-India Partnership Achieves Targets Five Years Ahead of Schedule

In a recent statement, Dr. Thani bin Ahmad Al Zeyoudi, the Minister of State for Foreign Trade, announced that the total number of Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreements (CEPAs) signed by the UAE had reached 27 by the end of the previous year. He also mentioned plans to establish similar agreements with various global partners, aiming to increase the total to 45 by the end of 2026.

He emphasized that these comprehensive economic partnerships are a significant driver for maintaining the momentum of the country’s achievements. The signing of these agreements reflects the UAE’s profound understanding of the importance of trade and its facilitation, fostering conditions for growth by expanding its network of international trade partners through the CEPA program.

During a discussion session hosted by the Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy, Al Zeyoudi revealed that the reports received from the Indian government regarding the economic outcomes of their CEPA indicate that the trade volume has reached approximately $100 billion. This figure exceeds the target set for 2030 by five years.

He pointed out that the UAE’s distinguished status both regionally and globally in attracting foreign direct investment and providing future economic opportunities for global companies and startups is a result of the wise vision of the UAE’s leadership. This vision has established a strong foundation and created a clear path to transform the UAE into a key investment hub, reinforcing its position as a leading gateway to markets and a central player in the global economy.

Al Zeyoudi highlighted that over the past decade, the UAE has successfully developed a strategic framework and enhanced its service offerings, preparing to tackle the challenges of the global economy.

He noted that the UAE’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) grew by 3.8% compared to 2023, with expectations that it will exceed 4% growth in 2025. This outcome underscores the success of the economic policies and strategies implemented by the UAE, which aim to enhance economic diversification, streamline business operations, and stimulate growth in new economic sectors as vital drivers for sustainable economic and social development.
