Experts from the Emirates Experts program, known as “the fourth cohort,” presented eight innovative solutions aimed at addressing urgent national challenges related to education, healthcare, sustainability, cultural identity, and food security. These solutions align with the strategic vision of the UAE for the future, which emphasizes innovation and social impact. They were showcased during the Global Behavioral Science Conference 2025, taking place for the first time in the Middle East and North Africa in Abu Dhabi at New York University from April 30 to May 1, 2025. The innovative solutions were developed using behavioral science methodologies and have undergone multiple practical field tests.
Ahmed Taleb Al Shamsi, Director of the Emirates Experts program, highlighted the significant role of the Emirates Experts in tackling contemporary challenges and providing suitable solutions, particularly in areas of national priority. He emphasized the importance of leveraging behavioral science methodologies based on scientific evidence, studies, and experimental research to formulate appropriate policies for various crucial issues within society.
Regarding the eight solutions presented, expert Khaloud Al Awadhi introduced a project focused on empowering students by addressing their individual educational needs through innovative proposals that consider gender, enhance participation, and support academic success as well as active civic engagement. Additionally, expert Dr. Mohammed Al Amri suggested behavioral interventions aimed at reducing the prevalence of rare genetic disorders through improved premarital screening practices and raising community awareness.
Expert Mohammed Al Janahi proposed a behavioral consumption strategy aimed at promoting the purchase of locally made products through specific methods such as implementing a special shelf classification system, disseminating digital alerts, and launching in-store loyalty incentive initiatives. Moreover, expert Maryam Al Falasi presented a solution in the field of food security involving the establishment of a national food donation system, utilizing virtual alerts and behavioral incentives to minimize food waste and loss.
In the area of youth and digital engagement, expert Faisal Al Hawei introduced a school and home program designed to reduce screen time for children aged 6 to 10 years. Furthermore, expert Somaya Al Hajri will launch a national digital awareness campaign titled “Digital Heroes,” aimed at fostering responsible and positive social media usage among the youth in the UAE.
