Ajman Forum for Sustainable Development Explores Achieving Carbon Neutrality Goals

The Ajman Municipality and Planning Department has announced the launch of the Ajman International Forum for Sustainable Development, themed “Climate Actions for Carbon Neutrality.” This forum will take place at Ajman X from May 6 to 7.

Dr. Khaled Maeen Al Hosani, Executive Director of the Public Health and Environment Sector at the department, emphasized that the forum will serve as a high-level international platform aimed at bringing together thought leaders, decision-makers, researchers, and practitioners from various sectors. Its goal is to foster cooperation, share expertise, and showcase innovative solutions to achieve carbon neutrality and sustainability at both local and international levels.

He highlighted that we are currently facing accelerating climate challenges and an increasing pace of urbanization, which makes the need for innovative and sustainable solutions more urgent than ever. While cities worldwide are hubs of opportunity, they also face growing vulnerabilities due to climate change, resource constraints, and social and economic disparities.

Al Hosani explained that all stakeholders are intensifying their efforts to reach carbon neutrality, aiming to balance the amount of carbon dioxide emitted into the atmosphere with the amount removed or offset, ultimately leading to net-zero emissions. He noted that the forum aligns with global initiatives and the UAE’s strategy to achieve climate neutrality by 2050. Participants will engage in constructive discussions, share transformative ideas, and explore practical strategies for building cities that prioritize sustainability and human well-being.

On the second day of the forum, activities will include a private session for a select group of experts to discuss the Ajman Carbon Neutrality Strategy project, aiming to review the current progress of the initiative.
