Passion Endures: Memories and Milestones of Ali Obeid Al Hamli

The book “Still Passionate: A Life Between Media and Culture,” written by Ali Obaid Al Hameli and published by the Abu Dhabi Center for the Arabic Language, brings to light his extensive memories and experiences in the field of media.

Al Hameli recounts his journey from the very beginning, during a time when information proliferates rapidly and various sources of influence intertwine. His perspective sheds light on the evolution of media practices, emphasizing his belief in the narrative derived from his 50 years of experience with writing and ideas, starting from his early educational stages to receiving prestigious awards in journalism and intellectual writing.

He asserts that writers and media professionals play a vital role in shaping public opinion and collective consciousness. The connection between writers and media is not superficial; it is an organic relationship that arises from the convergence of roles between the intellectual, who holds a vision, and the media, which possesses the platform and outreach.

In his fifth book, Al Hameli documents his journey in a novel way by recording its content in audio format. He explains, “In this narrative, I aimed to avoid making it entirely autobiographical, and I focused on highlighting significant milestones in my life that relate to the media and culture in my country. I hope I have succeeded in sharing these experiences in a manner that provides value.”

Al Hameli further emphasizes that the role of a writer in media transcends mere occasional contributions; it embodies the intellectual’s presence amid societal transformations. He underscores that responsible discourse retains its importance amid the cacophony of the world. In an era that demands both thought and information, the intellectually engaged writer in media is not merely a luxury but an essential ethical and intellectual necessity.
