The UAE Space Agency has been awarded the Future Readiness Mark for the “Space Data Center” project. This recognition is granted to federal and local governmental entities that design and implement exceptional projects, enhancing the Emirates’ preparedness for future changes.
The acquisition of the Future Readiness Mark for the Space Data Center underscores its role as a transformative national initiative that supports the UAE government’s efforts to accelerate digital transformation and leverage space technologies and artificial intelligence for human welfare and sustainability.
The services offered by the center, developed in partnership with Space 42, a leading UAE space technology company, include:
– Access to space data
– Data analysis algorithms
– Artificial intelligence software
– A marketplace for space applications
Furthermore, the center houses 47 internally developed AI models for space data analysis, including models for environmental change detection, vessel tracking, and crisis management related to disasters like floods and earthquakes.
Enhancing Readiness
The center contributes to the development of an advanced digital infrastructure that strengthens the readiness of the space sector. This innovative framework, unique to the Middle East and North Africa, employs AI solutions and smart analytics, transforming them into real-time decision-making support tools.
The center plays a crucial role in supporting 30 national and international missions and benefits from a network of over 300 satellites monitoring Earth within a unified infrastructure.
Dr. Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi, Minister of State for Entrepreneurship and SMEs and Chairman of the UAE Space Agency, emphasized that the Space Data Center project is a pivotal milestone in the UAE’s journey, reflecting its ambitious vision for developing an advanced digital infrastructure that enables the sharing and analysis of space data, ultimately benefiting vital sectors nationwide and enhancing the space economy.
He noted that the center today serves as a leading digital platform for compiling and providing space data to scientists, researchers, public and private institutions, startups, and the community.
Minister of State for Government Development and the Future, Ahood Al Rumaithi, asserted that the UAE leadership is committed to enhancing digital transformation and accelerating the development and adoption of innovative technological solutions across various sectors, thereby preparing them for the future and supporting the nation’s vision to enhance its global competitiveness and leadership.
She added that the Space Data Center project reflects the UAE’s forward-looking vision and emphasizes the significance of the space sector in its approach to integrate space technology and artificial intelligence in working models that serve humanity, society, and the environment.
She remarked that the project serves as a global scientific and practical reference for utilizing space sciences to support national plans with smart indicators that improve sector resilience and expedite responses to future challenges.
Success Stories
Since its launch in 2022, the Space Data Center has made a significant impact, contributing to 30 success stories that aided decision-making in various local and international sectors. Noteworthy among them are the enhancement of rescue team responses during the earthquakes in Turkey and Morocco.
Additionally, it developed the “Nabat” application, which improved food security by analyzing data from over 4,000 local farms using satellite data, and supported studies measuring methane emissions accurately to help achieve emission reduction targets. The center also developed an early warning system to protect coral reefs in the Maldives.
The Space Data Center supports global efforts under the international charter for space in the event of major crises and disasters, where the UAE is the sole member.

These pillars include a unified infrastructure that allows rapid and efficient integration and analysis of diverse data from varied sources and suppliers, as well as the adoption of proactive analytics powered by artificial intelligence.
