The Trends Research and Consultations Center organized an international conference titled “Techno-Geopolitics: What is the Role of Technology in International Relations?” through its office in Canada, in collaboration with the University of Montreal. This event took place at the Canadian Higher Technology University and was supported by the Francophone Knowledge Forum “ACFAS” and UNESCO.
Scholars, specialists, and experts participating in the conference sessions emphasized that control over advanced technology and artificial intelligence tools has emerged as a crucial criterion for influence and leadership in the new international order. They pointed out that technology is significantly reshaping the balance of power at both regional and global levels.
The attendees also highlighted the necessity of enhancing international cooperation in the regulation of artificial intelligence to avoid divisions that could hinder progress and exacerbate geopolitical tensions. In the current landscape, digital technology has become a vital element of modern geopolitical power, with nations competing for dominance over data, digital infrastructure, and major technological platforms.
