Knowledge and Innovation Center Launched by ‘Economy’

The Ministry of Economy has established a Knowledge and Innovation Center in collaboration with various academic institutions in the country. The aim is to strengthen partnerships between the ministry and these institutions in the fields of economic studies, research, and scientific inquiry.

This announcement was made during an event hosted by the ministry yesterday in Dubai, attended by His Excellency Abdullah Bin Touq Al Marri, the Minister of Economy, along with several ministry officials and leaders from the participating academic institutions.

The ministry also revealed the signing of partnerships and memorandums of understanding with 18 academic institutions, including universities, research institutes, and innovation centers across different emirates. This initiative is intended to facilitate knowledge exchange regarding economic policies, legislation, and related sectors, leveraging the best practices and expertise available.

This integrated national network aims to support the development of economic policies while enhancing the competitiveness of the national economy and the business environment.

His Excellency Abdullah Bin Touq Al Marri emphasized that the UAE places significant importance on developing and advancing economic legislation based on global best practices. This commitment reflects the country’s belief in its role in fostering the growth of the national economy and enhancing its competitiveness at both regional and global levels. With the launch of the Knowledge and Innovation Center, we are taking a vital step in expanding our collaboration with academic institutions across the nation.

The center is expected to create a new platform for leading research and innovation, merging knowledge with economic policies, and fostering cooperation in scientific research and economic policymaking. This will support the nation’s vision for a knowledge-based and innovative economy, aligned with the “UAE Vision 2031” initiative.

Furthermore, he noted that universities and research centers in the UAE are not just providers of vocational and technical training but also possess a profound understanding of the economic and social challenges we face. This highlights the importance of leveraging these national academic institutions to formulate globally leading policies that support sustainable economic development.

He further explained that while education may not be directly measured in terms of GDP, its impact is profound. It contributes to enhancing labor productivity, improving technological efficiency, attracting investment, and encouraging innovation and entrepreneurship. Education supports the development of generations equipped with competitive capabilities. The academic institutions that have partnered with the ministry for the Knowledge and Innovation Center include:

Khalifa University, American University of Sharjah, New York University Abu Dhabi, Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi, University of Sharjah, American University in the Emirates, American University in Dubai, Dubai University, Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University, Abu Dhabi University, American University of Ras Al Khaimah, University of Fujairah, University of Umm Al-Quwain, Abu Dhabi School of Management, University of Al Ain, Mohammed Bin Rashid School of Government, Trends Research and Advisory Center, and THiNK Center.
