Israeli media reports indicate that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government has decided to withdraw its negotiating team from Doha, Qatar, following a stalemate in talks with Hamas. An Israeli official was quoted by Channel 13, stating, “We are prepared to send the Israeli delegation back if there is any progress in discussions. As of now, Hamas continues to demand an end to the war.” Meanwhile, Channel 12 reported that the reason for withdrawal stems from Hamas’s insistence on obtaining written guarantees from the United States to conclude the conflict.
### Position
In the meantime, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi praised the United Kingdom’s stance on the Palestinian situation, particularly regarding the circumstances in Gaza. According to Egypt’s presidential spokesperson, ambassador Mohamed Shenawi, El-Sisi received a call from UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer to discuss coordination between the two nations concerning regional and international developments, as well as to review the overall economic and trade relations.
The spokesperson noted that the conversation included discussions about the regional situation, with the UK Prime Minister listening to El-Sisi’s views on the circumstances in Gaza and Egypt’s efforts, in collaboration with Qatar and the United States, to achieve a ceasefire and facilitate humanitarian aid.
He further emphasized Egypt’s complete rejection of any attempts to resolve the Palestinian issue through displacement of Palestinians from their homeland. The importance of translating ongoing international support for the Arab plan to reconstruct Gaza into actionable steps was highlighted, with activities set to commence as soon as a ceasefire is in place. El-Sisi also appreciated the UK’s positive stance regarding developments in the Palestinian issue and recent events in Gaza.
### Welcome
Egypt expressed its approval of the noticeable shift in the positions of active international parties, particularly the outright rejection of Israeli violations in Gaza and the excessive military force used against defenseless civilians in the territory, accompanied by an unprecedented policy of starvation in international conflicts.
In a statement issued by the Foreign Ministry, Egypt mentioned, “The evolution of international positions demonstrates recent positive steps, including the trilateral statement from the leaders of France, the United Kingdom, and Canada.”
Additionally, it pointed out the European decision to review Israel’s compliance with Article 2 of the association agreement with the European Union, along with ongoing efforts towards mutual recognition of Palestinian statehood by several countries.
Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis urged an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and the resumption of humanitarian aid to those under siege, while Irish Deputy Prime Minister Simon Harris accused the Israeli government of committing genocide in the region.
