President Donald Trump has criticized Russian leader Vladimir Putin, stating he has “lost his mind,” amplifying his rhetoric against Moscow in light of a series of intense Russian attacks on Ukraine over the weekend, despite calls for a ceasefire.
Trump is advocating for a swift resolution to the conflict in Ukraine. However, despite his optimistic remarks following a nearly two-hour telephone conversation with Putin last Monday, Russia ramped up its bombardment of Ukraine, resulting in the deaths of 13 Ukrainian individuals on Sunday morning.
On his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump wrote, “I have always had a very good relationship with President Vladimir Putin, but something has happened to him. He has lost his mind.”
He added, “I have always said that he wants all of Ukraine, not just a part of it, and it may turn out that I was correct. But if he goes through with that, it will lead to the downfall of Russia.”
In reports from late Sunday to early Monday, Ukrainian authorities indicated two individuals were injured, a sixty-year-old woman and a fifty-two-year-old man, during a “Russian attack” in the Zaporizhzhia region, alongside strikes in areas of Khmelnytsky (West) and “strong explosions” in Kharkiv (Northeast).
In Kyiv, Mayor Vitali Klitschko announced the activation of air defense systems to counter drone assaults.
Air raid sirens blared across Ukraine at night, though early reports suggest that the bombardment was less intense compared to the previous two nights.
According to the Air Force, Ukraine faced a complex attack early Sunday, with 367 projectiles fired, consisting of 69 missiles and 298 drones. Ukrainian authorities reported that 13 individuals died, including four in the Kyiv region and three children in the Zhytomyr region (Northwest).
During the night from Friday to Saturday, approximately 14 ballistic missiles and 250 drones were detected, most of which targeted the Ukrainian capital.
