Mohamed Sami, the director, stated that drama has evolved from being mere entertainment to becoming a vital component of Arab viewers’ identity and culture. He noted that the Arab audience has grown up engaging with dramatic works that reflect their societal values, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan, which positions drama as a critical factor in shaping awareness and documenting social changes.
This statement was made during the Arab Media Forum held at the Arab Media Summit. Sami mentioned that human dramas and domestic stories, which focus on real experiences from everyday life, attract Arab viewers more than other genres. Consequently, he has been dedicated to creating such types of dramas as they resonate deeply and leave a significant impact on the audience.
He emphasized that digital platforms need to maintain this emotional and cultural connection by producing content that reflects reality and expresses the region’s identity, while also retaining its ability to innovate and captivate viewers.
Sami asserted that the human element in the narrative and themes of a drama piece appeals to a wide audience, regardless of their geographical location.
Moreover, he pointed out that any production succeeding on traditional television can achieve similar success on digital platforms, although the reverse may not hold true.
