As part of the “Media Chats” sessions, a discussion titled “Media Technology Leading the Future” was held, featuring Rami Al-Qawasmi, the CEO and co-founder of the platform “Mawdoo3.com,” moderated by media personality Rahaf Al-Sawalha from Amman TV.
The session explored various topics related to the future of media amidst the significant technological changes currently taking place globally. It aimed to address the question of whether artificial intelligence will replace traditional media professionals. Al-Qawasmi showcased how “Mawdoo3.com,” established in 2010, has utilized AI to enhance Arabic content online, notably introducing the first Arabic-speaking virtual assistant, Salma, in 2017.
He stated that, in the short term, AI will not replace professional journalists. He emphasized that while this reality cannot be ignored, there is an essential need to engage with it, train on it, and leverage the developmental opportunities it offers.
