Seven individuals lost their lives and 35 others sustained injuries following a train derailment in the Bryansk region of Russia, which borders Ukraine and Belarus. This tragic event occurred due to the collapse of a road bridge over the train tracks.
According to Alexander Bogomaz, the Governor of Bryansk, the incident transpired at 10:50 PM Moscow time (19:50 GMT) in the Fyogunishki area, as reported on his Telegram channel.
Debris from the collapsed bridge fell onto the train traveling beneath it, resulting in serious injuries, as stated by the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry, conveyed by the TASS news agency.
Passengers on the affected train were evacuated to temporary shelters and will continue their journey on an alternate train.
Additionally, a truck crossing the bridge was also damaged by the collapse.
