The Secretary-General of the Arab League, Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, condemned the Israeli authorities’ decision to bar the Islamic Arab Ministerial Committee delegation from visiting Ramallah and meeting with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. He characterized this action as “arrogant,” illustrating a continued violation of international law and a clear intention by the occupying forces to isolate the Palestinian people and their leadership from the Arab and international community.
Mr. Aboul Gheit is scheduled to travel to Amman, Jordan, tomorrow, June 1st, as part of the delegation tasked with monitoring the developments of the conflict in the Gaza Strip.
This visit is part of ongoing Arab consultations regarding the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories.
A spokesperson noted that the planned visit included a stop in Ramallah for a meeting with the Palestinian president; however, the occupying authorities prevented the delegation’s entry, leading to strong condemnation from the Secretary-General.
