The British Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, has committed to launching a wave of new investments aimed at transforming the military into a “fully integrated and powerful fighting force” as part of the government’s review of its defense policies.
Starmer stated that he plans to invest in a military that is “more integrated, prepared, and deadly than ever before,” according to British news agency PA Media.
As part of the review, which is set to be published tomorrow, the government has pledged £1.5 billion ($2 billion) for the establishment of at least six factories, along with support for the purchase of approximately 7,000 long-range weapons manufactured in the UK.
This new funding is expected to increase the UK’s ammunition expenditure to £6 billion during the current parliamentary session and will support around 1,800 jobs across the country.
Starmer described the review as a “radical plan” aimed at boosting investments in shipbuilding, drone technology, and cybersecurity defenses.
In an article for The Sun, Starmer emphasized that preparing for tomorrow’s threats requires “bringing together all our capabilities, from drones to artillery, human instinct, and intelligence, into a single strong and integrated fighting machine.”
He added, “To achieve this, we will announce a wave of new investments in our armed forces on land, in the air, and at sea.”
Starmer concluded by stating, “We will invest in a more integrated, prepared, and deadly fighting force, restoring Britain’s position as a leader in defense and NATO.”
He asserted, “We will provide better equipment for our soldiers when operating abroad, allowing them to utilize a complete range of conventional and technological capabilities.”
