Dr. Amina bint Abdallah Al-Dahhak, the Minister of Climate Change and Environment, emphasized that the United Arab Emirates prioritizes food safety as an essential part of ensuring sustainable national food security, which is crucial for maintaining the stability of food supply chains.
In her statement on the occasion of World Food Safety Day 2025, she highlighted the ministry’s ongoing efforts to develop comprehensive legislative and regulatory frameworks based on scientific principles and aligned with global best practices in this field.
This year, World Food Safety Day is celebrated under the theme “Food Safety: Science and Decision-Making,” underscoring the importance of science in making informed decisions that guarantee food safety and protect public health in a rapidly changing world facing increasing food-related challenges.
She stated, “We believe that food safety is a national responsibility and a strategic priority. The UAE has developed a flexible and modern legislative framework supported by advanced digital infrastructure and effective institutional integration between regulatory bodies and both the public and private sectors. We are committed to enhancing our regulatory capabilities and updating our tracking and early warning mechanisms, ensuring food quality and safety from source to consumer, and further building public trust in the national food system.”
She also noted that the growing food-related challenges necessitate collaboration and coordination among all relevant stakeholders at both local and global levels to share best practices and regulatory standards, ensuring the highest levels of food safety. The UAE is open to partnerships and initiatives that contribute to global integration in food safety systems and shares its expertise with countries worldwide as part of its international responsibilities.
The Minister affirmed that the UAE is committed to continuing investment in knowledge, legislation, and innovation to enhance food safety, supporting the country’s vision for a healthy, safe, and food-secure future.
