The Lebanese Armed Forces have announced that Israel’s continued escalation of its aggressions could lead them to suspend cooperation with the ceasefire monitoring mechanism regarding site inspections.
In a statement reported by the National News Agency of Lebanon, the military leadership emphasized that this stance is a response to Israeli violations that have escalated into “daily aggression.” Recent incidents include targeting inhabited areas in southern Beirut and other regions, along with Israel’s refusal to engage with monitoring efforts aimed at preventing these aggressions. This undermines the roles of both the monitoring committee and the military.
Despite reaffirming their commitment to Resolution 1701 and the ceasefire agreement, the Lebanese military strongly condemned the Israeli attacks, viewing them as attempts to destabilize Lebanon.
The statement concluded by affirming that the army will continue its mission to uphold state authority and protect the security of Lebanon and its citizens, driven by their national duty.
