The Lebanese Army Command announced that Israel’s continued escalation of attacks may lead the military institution to freeze cooperation with the Mechanism for Monitoring the Ceasefire Violations regarding reconnaissance of sites.
In a statement reported by the National News Agency today, the Command explained that this stance is in response to Israeli violations that have turned into “daily aggression,” including targeting populated areas in southern Beirut suburbs and the south. Israel’s refusal to cooperate with the monitoring committee’s efforts to prevent attacks undermines the role of the committee and the army together.
Despite reaffirming full commitment to Resolution 1701 and the ceasefire agreement, the Lebanese Army Command strongly condemned Israeli attacks, considering them an attempt to destabilize Lebanon.
The statement concluded by emphasizing that the army will continue to perform its duties to enforce state authority and protect Lebanon’s security and its people with determination and resolve, based on its national duty.
