Study: The Most Conflict-Ridden Year Since 1946

Six nuclear scientists were killed in the wide-ranging strikes launched by Israel on Iran on Friday, according to local media in Tehran.

The news agency Tasnim reported that “Abdul Hamid Meenushahr, Ahmadreza Zulfagari, Amir Hossein Fakhih, Motalbi Zadeh, Mohammad Mahdi Tehranchi, and Faridoun Abbasi are the martyred nuclear scientists” as a result of the Israeli attack.

Abbasi is one of the most prominent figures in the nuclear field in Iran, having previously headed the Iranian Atomic Energy Organization. He survived an assassination attempt in 2010 when a bomb was attached to his car, an operation Iran accused US and Israeli intelligence agencies of being behind.

Tehranchi, on the other hand, was the president of the Islamic Azad University in Tehran.

Israel launched a series of wide-ranging strikes on nuclear and military sites in Iran on Friday, including the Natanz facility, resulting in the killing of prominent military leaders. The Iranian Supreme Leader warned the Israeli state of “a bitter and painful fate.”

Iranian media announced the deaths of the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, Mohammad Bagheri, as well as the commander of the Revolutionary Guard, Hossein Salami, and the prominent Guard leader, Gholam Ali Rashid.
