The Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, Suhail Mohamed Faris Al Mazrouei, reaffirmed that the Cabinet’s decision to establish the “National Maritime Navigation Center” reflects the UAE’s strategic vision of developing a comprehensive maritime system that supports national aspirations for sustainability and innovation, reinforcing the country’s position as a leading global maritime power.
In a statement made on this occasion, he noted that the National Maritime Navigation Center, under the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, will significantly contribute to the advancement of the nation’s maritime infrastructure by managing and operating the integrated national system for monitoring vessel movements. Additionally, it will oversee the unified national maritime window aimed at standardizing procedures and enhancing maritime operational efficiency.
The Minister emphasized that the center will serve as an advanced platform for collaborative efforts among stakeholders in the maritime sector, which will bolster initiatives to monitor and protect the industry while enhancing its role as a strategic contributor to the national economy.
He expressed his sincere gratitude to the entities involved in the country’s maritime sector for their support, collaboration, and dedicated efforts that facilitated the establishment of the center, highlighting that this achievement reflects the spirit of integration and teamwork that characterizes the UAE government’s framework.
Moreover, he pointed out that the National Maritime Navigation Center signifies a transformative step in equipping the UAE to enhance safety and security within its maritime sector and to prevent environmentally harmful practices through the adoption of smart technology. The center will also support scientific studies and research that contribute to the development of effective policies and informed decision-making. He noted that the center would promote coordination among maritime authorities, unify national policies and regulations, ensure compliance with global standards, facilitate maritime operations, and reduce regulatory complexities, while emphasizing the empowerment of national talents through specialized training and research programs.
The Minister asserted that this decision reflects the wise leadership’s belief that excellence in vital sectors arises only through systematic institutional work that anticipates the future and turns challenges into opportunities for growth and innovation. In addition, Engineer Hassan Mohamed Jumaa Al Mansoori, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure for Infrastructure and Transport Affairs, stated that the center will contribute to the development of maritime policies aligned with international best practices and activate smart monitoring systems and advanced planning, further strengthening the UAE’s capability to lead the future of maritime navigation.
He added that the UAE boasts a leading maritime infrastructure and a strategic geographical position that places it at the heart of global trade movement. This center will enhance the country’s role in supporting supply chains, facilitating international trade movement, and empowering a new generation of qualified national talents to lead the maritime sector towards more sustainable horizons.
