His Excellency Suhail Mohamed Faris Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, announced that the Cabinet’s decision to establish the “National Maritime Navigation Center” aligns with the UAE’s strategic vision for developing a comprehensive maritime framework aimed at fostering sustainability and innovation, thereby reinforcing the country’s status as a leading global maritime power.
In his statement on this occasion, he highlighted that the National Maritime Navigation Center, which is affiliated with the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, will significantly contribute to the advancement of the nation’s marine infrastructure. The center will manage and operate the national integrated ship monitoring system, in addition to running the unified national maritime portal, which aims to streamline procedures and enhance operational efficiency in marine activities.
He emphasized that the center will serve as an advanced platform for collaborative efforts among relevant parties in the maritime sector, furthering the initiatives to monitor and protect the sector and enhancing its role as a strategic contributor to the national economy.
He expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the stakeholders in the maritime sector for their support, cooperation, and diligent efforts that contributed to the establishment of this center, affirming that this achievement reflects the spirit of integration and teamwork that characterizes the UAE’s government work system.
He noted that the National Maritime Navigation Center represents a significant advancement in the UAE’s ability to enhance the safety and security of its maritime sector while preventing environmentally harmful practices. This will be accomplished through the adoption of smart technologies and the support of scientific studies and research that contribute to the development of effective policies and informed decision-making. He pointed out that the center will also help improve coordination between maritime authorities, unify national policies and legislation, ensure compliance with global standards, enhance operational efficiency, and reduce regulatory complexities, all while focusing on empowering national talents through specialized training and research programs.
His Excellency reaffirmed that this decision reflects our leadership’s belief that excellence in vital sectors can only be achieved through systematic institutional work that anticipates the future and transforms challenges into opportunities for growth and innovation. He mentioned that the center will act as a national lever for elevating the quality of maritime services and achieving integration between maritime development and environmental sustainability.
In addition, His Excellency Eng. Hassan Mohammed Jumaa Al Mansoori, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure for Infrastructure and Transport, stated that the center will contribute to the development of maritime policies in line with international best practices, activate smart monitoring systems, and implement advanced planning, which will enhance the UAE’s capacity to lead the future of maritime navigation.
He added that the UAE possesses a pioneering maritime infrastructure and a strategic geographic location that places it at the heart of global trade movements. This center will bolster the country’s role in supporting supply chains, facilitating international trade, and enabling a new generation of qualified national talents to lead the maritime sector toward more sustainable horizons.
