The UAE Pavilion at the Beijing Book Fair Sees Remarkable Attendance

The UAE pavilion at the Beijing International Book Fair attracted significant interest from visitors and literature enthusiasts, highlighting the UAE’s status as a center of cultural and intellectual prominence on the global stage.

The pavilion was distinguished by a design that showcased authentic Emirati heritage with modern touches, making it a focal point at the fair. Interactive sessions with Emirati authors and intellectuals, along with discussions on China’s relationships with Middle Eastern countries amid global transformations, contributed to the increased footfall at the pavilion.

Yesterday’s events featured a key session titled “The Emirati Vision for Tolerance and Coexistence,” which discussed the UAE’s efforts and its unique model promoting tolerance and coexistence based on clear principles, positioning it as a beacon of global peace. Participants emphasized that the values of coexistence are inspired by the legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who made tolerance a fundamental principle of the nation.

The second discussion session reviewed the UAE’s endeavors to promote global peace and build bridges of dialogue between cultures and religions. A third session, titled “Nurturing Young Minds: Priorities in Children’s Book Publishing in the UAE and the People’s Republic of China,” spotlighted the nation’s strategies for fostering the next generation, featuring contributions from Emirati and Chinese education experts and innovators. A fourth discussion hosted by the pavilion focused on the ethics of artificial intelligence.

An organized panel discussed the topic of “The Arab Book in the Hands of the Chinese Reader,” which included prominent publishers, translators, and cultural experts from both nations, exploring ways to enhance the presence of Arabic literature in the Chinese market, drawing a large audience at the fair.

Several visitors expressed their admiration for the content presented by the Emirati pavilion, particularly books that highlight the cultural and civilizational development of the UAE, and they praised the efforts made to enhance knowledge exchange between the UAE and China.

Mubarak Al Nakhai, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture, emphasized that participation in the Beijing fair aligns with the nation’s strategy to promote global cultural dialogue and showcase the UAE’s role as a bridge connecting civilizations. He noted that this participation helps open new avenues for collaboration with Chinese cultural institutions in the realms of publishing and translation, broadening cultural partnerships with Asia, and providing a comprehensive picture of the UAE’s cultural landscape.

The Beijing International Book Fair 2025 stands as one of the most significant cultural events globally, drawing thousands of publishers, thinkers, and cultural figures from around the world to showcase their intellectual and literary contributions.
