His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, hosted an event yesterday morning, alongside His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, to honor the recipients of the Sharjah Volunteer Award in its 22nd edition, with a total of 41 winners from both individuals and organizations.
The ceremony, held at the Sharjah Education Academy, highlighted the contributions of His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, the humanitarian envoy of the Big Heart Foundation, who was recognized in the veteran category for his outstanding efforts in humanitarian and volunteer work. Additionally, Sheikh Issam bin Saqr Al Qasimi, advisor at the Ruler’s Office, was honored for his remarkable contributions to volunteer work and charitable initiatives that have positively impacted the community, along with Khamis bin Salem Al Suwaidi, also an advisor at the Ruler’s Office, in appreciation of his significant community service efforts.
During the event, the Crown Prince of Sharjah received an overview of the various categories of the award, comprising 14 classifications, and learned about the number of recipients and distinguished veterans involved in the award, along with the sustainable charitable projects supported by it.
The event commenced with the UAE national anthem, followed by verses from the Holy Quran. His Highness then witnessed a theatrical presentation featuring a video segment that underscored the importance of family volunteering and its benefits for individuals and society, reinforcing the values of social cohesion and solidarity.
The audience, including His Highness, watched a film showcasing key statistics about the award, the number of participants and winners in the different categories, as well as the recorded volunteer hours and the accomplishments of the winners.
During his speech, Ahmed Ibrahim Al Mail, Head of the Social Services Department and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Sharjah Volunteer Award, affirmed that under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, the emirate continues to promote the values of volunteerism and establish a culture of community giving.
Dr. Abdulaziz bin Batti Al Muhairi, Chairman of the Sharjah Volunteer Award’s Jury Committee, also addressed the audience, emphasizing the crucial role of volunteers in fostering community bonds and connections.
His Highness honored the award-winning categories during the ceremony.
In attendance were Sheikh Issam bin Saqr Al Qasimi, the advisor at the Ruler’s Office; Sheikh Dr. Salem bin Abdulrahman Al Qasimi, Head of the Ruler’s Office; and Her Excellency Hessa bint Issa Bouhamid, Director General of the Community Development Authority in Dubai.
