Content creators, such as podcasters, musicians, and interviewers, will benefit from the ability to record clear and natural-sounding audio directly through their AirPods, which utilize Apple’s H2 chip and sophisticated computational audio technology.
The new audio recording capabilities are designed to integrate smoothly with iPhone, iPad, and Mac, and are compatible with various applications, including the Camera app, Voice Memos, Messages dictation, FaceTime, CallKit-enabled apps, and popular third-party video conferencing tools like Webex.
Hands-free camera control for effortless content creation
Apple has also rolled out a remote camera control function. By pressing and holding the stem of their AirPods, users can initiate or halt video recordings or capture photos using the Camera app or compatible third-party applications. This feature seeks to facilitate hands-free content generation, particularly for users recording themselves while singing, dancing, or performing.
“These updates make AirPods an even stronger asset for creators and communicators,” Apple stated.
The new features are slated to be included in a software update expected later this year.
Apple Intelligence expands across devices
Additionally, on the same day, Apple unveiled new Apple Intelligence features aimed at improving user experiences across devices like iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, and Apple Vision Pro. The new capabilities encompass Live Translation, enhanced visual intelligence, and creative tools such as Image Playground and Genmoji, providing users with innovative ways to communicate, comprehend, and express creativity.
Shortcuts will now directly leverage Apple Intelligence, and developers will have access to the on-device large language model that fuels these features—optimized for speed, privacy, and offline functionality. These features will be available for testing and are set for widespread rollout in the fall on supported devices and languages.
Apple also plans to broaden its language support for Apple Intelligence by the end of this year to include Danish, Dutch, Norwegian, Portuguese (Portugal), Swedish, Turkish, Chinese (Traditional), and Vietnamese.
