The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar summoned Ali Saleh Abadi, the Iranian ambassador to Qatar, today to reiterate Qatar’s strong condemnation of the attack on Al Udeid Air Base by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard. Qatar characterized this act as a blatant violation of its sovereignty, airspace, international law, and the United Nations Charter, asserting its right to respond to this serious infringement in accordance with international law.
Qatari Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi, communicated to the Iranian ambassador that this violation is entirely inconsistent with the principles of good neighborliness and the close relations that exist between Qatar and the Islamic Republic of Iran. He emphasized that Qatar has always advocated for dialogue with Iran and has made diligent diplomatic efforts in this regard.
Al Muraikhi also stressed the urgent need to return to dialogue and diplomatic pathways to resolve outstanding disputes and issues, calling for the cessation of military operations in order to promote regional and international stability.
