UAE and Pakistan Hold the Second Round of Political Consultations for Bilateral Cooperation

In the capital city of Abu Dhabi, the second round of political consultations took place between the United Arab Emirates and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. The meeting was co-chaired by Reem Kittit, Deputy Assistant Minister for Political Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Shahryar Akbar Khan, Additional Secretary for Middle Eastern Affairs at the Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Prior to these political discussions, a high-level meeting occurred between Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Mr. Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan, on the sidelines of the 12th Joint Ministerial Commission session hosted in Abu Dhabi.

The consultations served as a platform to emphasize the strong bilateral relations between the two nations. Both sides reviewed recent high-level exchanges and expressed satisfaction with the growing economic ties, with non-oil trade between the countries surpassing $8.6 billion in 2024.

During the discussions, both parties exchanged views on regional developments, including the situation in the Middle East and the latest deliberations at the United Nations Security Council.

In this context, the UAE expressed its appreciation for the constructive role played by Pakistan as a non-permanent member of the Council and noted Pakistan’s preparations to assume the presidency of the Council in July 2025.

Both sides underscored the importance of continued coordination on Security Council matters and reaffirmed their commitment to supporting efforts aimed at establishing peace and stability while seeking constructive solutions to regional challenges.

On the subject of multilateral cooperation, they reviewed the close collaboration between the two countries in light of the fruitful joint preparations for the United Nations Water Conference 2026, which the UAE is co-hosting with Senegal.

Both parties committed to holding regular political consultations to enhance their mutual objectives and serve the interests of their peoples. The consultations were attended by His Excellency Hamad Obaid Al Zaabi, UAE Ambassador to Pakistan, His Excellency Faisal Niaz Tirmidhi, Pakistan’s Ambassador to the UAE, alongside several senior officials from both sides.
