The UAE Condemns Iran’s Targeting of Qatar and Advocates for Diplomatic Solutions and Good Neighborliness

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has strongly condemned the Iranian Revolutionary Guard’s attack on the Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, urging a resort to diplomatic solutions and a respect for the principle of good neighborliness.

The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and its General Secretariat also denounced this Iranian aggression against Qatar’s sovereignty, calling for serious dialogue to overcome current crises and to ensure regional security.

The UAE views this incident as a blatant violation of Qatar’s sovereignty and airspace, representing a clear breach of international law and the UN Charter. The UAE has firmly rejected any acts that threaten the security and safety of Qatar while jeopardizing regional stability.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the UAE’s full solidarity with Qatar, reaffirming its unwavering support for measures that ensure the safety and security of residents within Qatar’s borders.

The UAE emphasized the need for an immediate halt to military escalation, warning that continued aggressive actions could undermine regional security and lead to catastrophic consequences for international peace and stability.

The ministry called for diplomatic solutions and adherence to the principle of good neighborliness, stating that genuine dialogue is the only way to navigate the current crises while safeguarding regional security and the stability of its peoples.

Right to Respond

Qatar has affirmed its right to respond proportionately, in accordance with international law, to Iran’s targeting of the Al Udeid Air Base. The spokesperson for the Qatari Foreign Ministry, Majed Al-Ansari, said, “Qatar expresses its strong condemnation of the attack on the Al Udeid Air Base by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, which we see as a grave violation of Qatar’s sovereignty and airspace, as well as international law and the UN Charter.”

Al-Ansari confirmed that Qatar’s air defense systems successfully thwarted the attack and intercepted the missiles.

Jassem Mohammed Al-Budaiwi, Secretary-General of the GCC, issued a strong condemnation of the missile attacks by Iran against Qatari territory.

He stated that this aggression constitutes a serious violation of Qatar’s sovereignty, directly affecting the security of all member states. He reiterated that the security of GCC nations is indivisible and that the council stands united with Qatar against any threats to its security and territorial integrity.

He added, “At a time when Qatar and the GCC nations are firmly condemning Israeli attacks on Iranian territory and exerting every effort to achieve a ceasefire and mediate, we are shocked by this Iranian missile attack, which breaches all norms, treaties, and international laws.”

The international community and the UN Security Council were urged to take responsibility in condemning this aggressive act, to adopt effective measures to deter Iran’s irresponsible actions, and to work towards restoring stability while preventing further escalation in the region, advocating for dialogue and diplomacy.

Saudi Arabia’s Condemnation

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has unequivocally condemned Iran’s aggression against Qatar, deeming it a flagrant violation of international law and good neighborly principles, which is unacceptable and cannot be justified.

In a statement, the Kingdom expressed its complete solidarity and support for Qatar, pledging all necessary resources to assist its Qatari neighbor in any measures it undertakes.

Kuwait’s Response

Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the Emir of Kuwait, asserted that the security and stability of Qatar is an integral part of Kuwait’s own security and stability.

During a phone conversation with Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of Qatar, he expressed Kuwait’s strong condemnation of the missile attack on the Al Udeid Air Base by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, which is a blatant violation of Qatar’s sovereignty and airspace as well as international law and the UN Charter.

The Emir of Kuwait reassured the Qatari leadership and people following this brazen act, emphasizing Kuwait’s complete support for any measures taken to preserve Qatar’s sovereignty and security, and its readiness to mobilize all available resources and capacities to assist Qatar.

Bahrain also reiterated its full support for Qatar, expressing complete solidarity with the nation in a statement. This is a reflection of the sibling and blood ties that call for mutual efforts to maintain restraint, prevent escalation, and resolve differences through peaceful means amid the sensitive circumstances facing the region.

The statement emphasized Bahrain’s strong condemnation of the Iranian attack on Qatar, viewing it as a serious violation of Qatar’s sovereignty and airspace, and of international law and the UN Charter.

Oman’s Condemnation

Oman condemned the missile strikes by Iran against Qatar, deeming them an unacceptable and denounced act that violates the sovereignty of a neighboring state within the GCC and contradicts good neighborly policies, escalating the potential for conflict. Oman expressed its solidarity with Qatar in its efforts to preserve its security and stability.

Support from Morocco

The Kingdom of Morocco condemned the Iranian missile attack in the strongest terms, expressing full solidarity with Qatar regarding any threats to its security and the safety of its citizens.

The Arab Parliament also strongly condemned the aggression against Qatar, deeming it a blatant violation of Qatari sovereignty and a clear breach of international law.

The statement warned against the potential expansion of conflict in the region and the risk of increased escalation that could jeopardize security and stability, reaffirming full solidarity with Qatar and support for the measures it takes to protect its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Serious Escalation

Jordan condemned the Iranian aggression against Qatar, classifying it as a serious infringement on Qatar’s sovereignty, international law, and the UN Charter.

The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the Kingdom’s total solidarity with Qatar in facing any threats to its security and stability, supporting any actions taken to ensure its safety and sovereignty. Official spokesperson Sufian Al-Qudah emphasized the necessity of ending regional escalation.

He cautioned against the consequences of continued and escalating tensions on regional security and global peace. Ambassador Al-Qudah stressed the importance of ceasing all military actions and returning to negotiations and dialogue to surpass this critical juncture in the region.

Egypt also expressed its strong condemnation of the Iranian attacks against Qatar, highlighting them as violations of its sovereignty and threats to its territorial safety, constituting breaches of international law and the UN Charter. The spokesperson for the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, Tamim Khalaf, affirmed Egypt’s complete solidarity with Qatar in this regard.

Moreover, Egypt expressed deep concern regarding the escalating tensions in the region, emphasizing its total rejection of any form of military escalation or violations of sovereignty, calling for de-escalation and a ceasefire to preserve regional peace and stability.

It stressed the importance of joint regional and international efforts to contain the rising tensions that threaten to spiral out of control, urging diplomatic efforts to prevent further escalation and calls for restraint and prioritizing dialogue and diplomatic solutions to ensure regional security and stability.
