The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has expressed strong condemnation regarding the recent missile attack on Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, attributed to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), according to the state news agency WAM.
The UAE characterized the assault as a blatant breach of the UN Charter and firmly rejected any actions that threaten the security and safety of Qatar, a fellow member of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).
Al Udeid Air Base, located southwest of the capital Doha, serves as a host for US and coalition forces, playing a crucial role in maintaining regional security.
UAE Solidarity with Qatar
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the UAE, as reported by WAM, expressed “full solidarity with the State of Qatar” and affirmed its steadfast support for measures that protect the safety of its citizens and residents in an official statement.
Calling for restraint, the UAE encouraged diplomatic measures based on principles of good neighborliness and non-interference in internal affairs.
The ministry emphasized that sincere dialogue is the only feasible approach to addressing current crises while ensuring the security and stability of the region and its populations.
Regional Responses to Iranian Strike
In response, Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, the Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), also condemned the missile attack, underscoring the council’s unified support for Qatar.
He urged the international community and the UN Security Council to denounce this act of aggression and to prioritize diplomatic efforts aimed at maintaining regional stability and protecting the safety of its inhabitants.
Saudi Arabia condemned the aggressive actions by Iran and expressed full solidarity with Qatar through a statement released by the Saudi Press Agency.
Oman criticized the missile strike, deeming it an unacceptable violation of the sovereignty of a fellow GCC member. The Foreign Ministry noted that such acts contradict good neighborly principles and risk exacerbating regional tensions, threatening the safety and stability of the area.
Kuwait denounced the missile attack on Al Udeid Air Base, labeling it a blatant violation of Qatar’s sovereignty, international law, and the UN Charter, as reported by the Qatar News Agency (QNA). The Kuwaiti Foreign Ministry expressed full support for Qatar’s right to respond and committed to providing all necessary resources to assist its Gulf neighbor. It reiterated that Qatar’s security is crucial to Kuwait’s own safety, commending the interception of the strike by Qatari defenses while calling for an end to regional escalations and conflicts through diplomatic means.
Bahrain also condemned the Iranian missile attack on Qatar and expressed its unwavering support for Qatar, advocating for restraint, de-escalation, and peaceful resolution of regional conflicts.
The Arab Parliament expressed its total solidarity with Qatar, supporting its measures to maintain sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity while cautioning against the escalation of conflicts which could threaten regional security and stability.
Ahmed Aboul Gheit, the Secretary-General of the Arab League, reaffirmed the league’s full support for Qatar in facing this violation of international law by Iran.
Egypt has voiced strong condemnation of the Iranian strike on Qatar, with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressing deep concern regarding the escalating tensions in the region and restating its opposition to any military escalation or infringement on national sovereignty.
Other nations, including Jordan, Lebanon, Iraq, Libya, and Morocco, have also denounced the attack on the Qatari airbase.
In solidarity with Qatar, French President Emmanuel Macron acknowledged the situation following the strike, stating in a post on X, “I express France’s solidarity with Qatar, struck by Iran on its own soil. I am in close contact with the country’s authorities and our partners in the region. I call on all parties to exercise utmost restraint, to de-escalate, and to return to the negotiating table.”
