The Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, Badr Abdel-Aty, issued a warning on Sunday regarding the critical situation in the Gaza Strip, highlighting the humanitarian disaster unfolding there and the ongoing obstruction by Israel of humanitarian aid.
This statement was made during a meeting between Minister Abdel-Aty and Christoph Heusgen, the European Union’s Special Envoy for the Middle East Peace Process, as reported by Foreign Ministry spokesperson Tamim Khalaf.
The spokesperson indicated in a press release that Minister Abdel-Aty outlined Egypt’s coordinated efforts with Qatar and the United States aimed at achieving a ceasefire in Gaza, exchanging hostages, and ensuring the flow of humanitarian aid into the area.
The Minister emphasized the urgent need for Israel to cease its aggression against the Palestinian population, reiterating Egypt’s stance against the displacement of Palestinians from their homeland.
Furthermore, the Minister addressed the alarming developments in the West Bank, cautioning about the dangers of ongoing Israeli military operations in Palestinian cities and villages and the repeated acts of aggression by Israeli settlers against innocent Palestinians.
The spokesperson noted that Minister Abdel-Aty expressed eagerness for an international conference focused on achieving a peaceful resolution to the Palestinian issue and implementing a two-state solution, which would be co-chaired by France and Saudi Arabia. He stressed the importance of expanding the international recognition of Palestine and establishing a Palestinian state along the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, viewing this as the sole path to enduring peace, security, and stability in the region.
