Dubai Municipality Launches Registration for 14th International Award for Best Practices in Sustainable Development
Dubai Municipality has officially opened registration for the 14th International Award for Best Practices in Sustainable Development. This initiative, organized in partnership with the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), seeks to honor outstanding global ideas, projects, and innovative practices aimed at enhancing urban growth and improving quality of life and living environments worldwide.
The award, for which winners will be announced during the Global Government Summit in 2026, celebrates the best worldwide practices and innovative projects designed to make a positive impact on improving living conditions. It emphasizes the development of urban planning and design concepts that prioritize enhancing the quality of life in communities and human settlements while protecting the environment through comprehensive frameworks of international cooperation. Additionally, it supports urban programs and policies that contribute to a more sustainable and high-quality future for upcoming generations.
Nasser Bouchehab, Executive Director of Planning and Governance Sector at Dubai Municipality, noted that the International Award for Best Practices in Sustainable Development has solidified Dubai and the UAE’s leadership in embracing sustainability goals and practices over the past thirty years. The award underscores the importance of continuous international collaboration and responsible participation to stimulate innovation and create integrated solutions to social, economic, and environmental challenges affecting sustainable urban development. It contributes to building future cities with urban communities focused on the quality of life and well-being of individuals.
The award stands out as one of the leading prestigious recognitions, celebrating the most innovative and distinguished practices and ideas that significantly advance global sustainable development goals.
The award comprises five main categories designed to honor projects and ideas that respond to global challenges and create sustainable solutions that enhance human societies. These categories include: Best Practices in Urban Renewal and Public Spaces, Best Practices in Urban Food Systems Preservation, Best Practices in Addressing Climate Change and Pollution Reduction, Best Practices in Urban Infrastructure Planning and Management, as well as the Most Innovative and Iconic Building.
The total financial value of the award for the winners amounts to one million US dollars, serving as an incentive for continued innovation and solution creation across diverse fields such as environment, climate change, pollution reduction, and infrastructure. This reflects Dubai’s commitment to supporting innovative initiatives and projects that have a tangible and lasting impact on a global scale.
