Middle East Emerges as a Global Center for Digital Health Innovation

The Middle East is quickly becoming a leading area for digital health, showcasing innovations such as virtual hospitals and AI-driven diagnostics.

Regional governments are making significant investments in healthcare advancements, with the UAE and Dubai at the forefront of these initiatives.

Propelled by national transformation plans and innovative platforms like WHX Tech, the area is taking an active role in shaping the global health tech landscape.

A Growing Industry

The digital health sector in the UAE is set for remarkable growth, with its value projected to rise from $745.7 million in 2024 to $2.6 billion by 2030, exhibiting an annual growth rate of 23.5 percent, according to Grand View Research.

This growth is largely attributed to the increasing utilization of telemedicine, AI-enhanced diagnostics, remote monitoring solutions, and mobile health applications, all integral to the country’s overarching digital transformation strategy.

Dubai is increasingly recognized as the core of digital health events, fostering innovation and collaboration.

This development takes place alongside substantial investments in AI throughout the UAE. Recently, it was announced that a state-of-the-art AI compute cluster, named Stargate UAE, will be established at the new UAE–US AI Campus in Abu Dhabi. Major firms such as G42, OpenAI, Oracle, NVIDIA, SoftBank Group, and Cisco are involved in this expansive project, which will cover 10 square miles and stand as the largest outside of the US.

Why Dubai, and Why Now?

As the UAE’s most globally connected city, Dubai is rapidly emerging as a hub for digital health innovation in the region. The emirate’s aspirations of becoming a smart city, coupled with its top-tier digital infrastructure and focused investment in health technology, position it as a perfect launchpad for WHX Tech.

In the past year, Dubai has intensified efforts to weave AI, telemedicine, and predictive analytics into its healthcare framework, supported by initiatives from the Dubai Health Authority and the Dubai Future Foundation.

Areas like Dubai Healthcare City and Dubai Science Park are attracting global startups, while regulatory innovations and a commitment to transparent data have established the city as a leader in the newest health solutions.

WHX Tech, taking place at the Dubai World Trade Centre, is leveraging this momentum by attracting premier health tech experts to the region’s most forward-looking city.

Organized by the team behind WHX Dubai (formerly Arab Health) and in collaboration with HIMSS, WHX Tech aims to bring together top minds in technology, policy, and healthcare delivery. Scheduled for September 8-10, 2025, at the Dubai World Trade Centre, the event expects to host over 5,000 health tech leaders, 300 exhibitors, and more than 250 speakers from over 30 nations.

Confirmed speakers include well-known figures such as British fitness educator and entrepreneur Joe Wicks and prominent entrepreneur and investor Peter Jones.

Other notable contributors will include Jyoti Gupta, President and CEO for Women’s Health and X-Ray at GE HealthCare, and Faisal Albaraiki, CEO of Vision Hospitals, among many others.

The Xcelerate Zone, WHX Tech’s exclusive startup platform, will feature the largest digital health pitch competition in the region, offering a $50,000 prize to support early-stage ventures in connecting with global investors and buyers.

As Dr. David Rhew, Global Chief Medical Officer and VP of Healthcare at Microsoft, remarks: “WHX Tech is uniquely positioned to act as a digital health nucleus for the world, thanks to its strategic geographic location, substantial regional investments in digital health, biotechnology, and AI, as well as a growing number of healthcare organizations operating in the Middle East.”

Digital health has evolved from being a passing trend in the Middle East to a vital strategic priority that is transforming healthcare delivery in the region. WHX Tech serves as the catalyst for this movement.
