This situation has prompted health warnings from authorities in various countries, who have swiftly deployed firefighting teams to prevent outbreaks of wildfires.
In Italy, many regions have restricted outdoor work during the daytime, while France has closed dozens of schools. Spain reported that this past June was the hottest on record.
Experts have indicated that the increasing frequency and intensity of heat waves are linked to climate change, warning of potential mass die-offs of marine life. Turkey has faced 342 forest fires since Friday, with six of them still active. Meanwhile, in Cairo, heavy rains were recorded yesterday, with expectations that the downpour will extend to cities along the Suez Canal today.
In the eastern part of the world, a “bomb cyclone” has impacted New South Wales in Australia, bringing heavy rain and strong winds, which led airlines to cancel domestic flights.
