Emirates has officially inaugurated a new daily service to Shenzhen, signifying its fourth entry point into mainland China and strengthening its expansion strategy in East Asia.
The inaugural flight, EK328, utilizing a four-class enhanced Boeing 777‑300ER, arrived at Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport on July 1.
Departing from Dubai at 10:05 AM GMT+4, the flight reached its destination at 10 PM GMT+8. The return flight, EK329, left Shenzhen at 11:55 PM and landed in Dubai at 3:40 AM the following day.
Emirates Flights to China
Emirates currently operates 42 weekly flights to four cities in mainland China—Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen—enhancing travel options through its Dubai hub to key European destinations such as London, Paris, Frankfurt, and Amsterdam, as well as locations in Kenya, Egypt, South Africa, and Saudi Arabia.
Adnan Kazim, Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer, noted that this new route underscores Emirates’ dedication to expanding its footprint in China and fostering trade and tourism between China and the UAE.
Since beginning operations in China in 2004, Emirates has played a significant role in the Belt and Road Initiative, connecting over 50 nations.
Cargo Capacity on Shenzhen Route
The Boeing 777-300ER servicing the Shenzhen route provides a cargo capacity of 16 tonnes, bolstering the “Aerial Silk Road” by facilitating the transportation of perishable goods and pharmaceuticals, supported by cold-chain capabilities.
This launch coincides with an increase in bilateral trade, projected to reach $95 billion in 2023, with aviation being a vital component of economic exchanges.
Travelers from the UAE can now enjoy visa-free entry to China for up to 30 days, making travel for business and leisure more convenient. Analysts suggest that Emirates’ expansion of routes aligns with strategic aspirations to enhance collaboration between the UAE and China in areas such as trade, technology, logistics, and investment.
New A350 Service to Muscat
Additionally, Emirates has announced the introduction of its new Airbus A350‑900 on the Dubai–Muscat route starting July 1, replacing the previous Boeing 777 service.
The airline first launched the A350 in January and plans to further integrate it into its fleet following earlier delays in deploying to Muscat, Bologna, and Lyon.
The A350 accommodates 312 passengers across Business, Premium Economy, and Economy classes, offering quieter cabins, improved fuel efficiency, and upgraded in-flight amenities.
This fleet modernization initiative aligns with Emirates’ overall strategy as it prepares for future long-range aircraft versions.
